Happy 4th of July everyone!

July 4th, 2024 - Vol. 2024-03

Dear reader,

While most Americans celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence each year on July 4th, also known as Independence Day, here at Adventure Cycling Thailand we celebrate our “Loss of Independence Day” after Chris lost his when he met Gae on July 4th, 2005.

So, congratulations on 19 years of love, life, and business partnerships that help ACT stand out as a multi-cultural and unique family-owned business.
As you may already know, we recently returned from the 2024 Tour de Thailand – Northeastern Ride where everyone agreed the ride and scenery were better than any of us had imagined. I personally rode the final survey via a motorbike (due to time and financial restraints) back in Early April during a record-breaking heat wave and surrounded by the color brown during the “dry season”, but even I was shocked at just how much difference in temperature and the vastness of greenery we would experience when we came to ride it on bicycles last June 6th-16th. The overwhelming response from the riders and support crew confirmed that June of 2025 would be the perfect time to run this spectacular charity ride/adventure tour once again.

In fact, we are now offering 4 of our 5 Tour de Thailand Charity Rides for the summer of 2025 during Thailand’s “Green Season”:

Beautiful, beautiful, “Green Season” is upon us!

Studies show that humans can see more shades of green than any other color. This is an evolutionary trait handed down from our ancestors, who differentiated shades to know which plants to eat and
which to avoid. Here in Thailand, we are surrounded by lush greenery throughout most of the year and we invite you all to come and enjoy it with us.

ACT gets many inquiries asking, “When is the best time to visit Thailand?”, to which we reply, “Basically any time other than April and May due to the higher temperatures and lack of refreshing and cleansing rain. Besides, those are the months we plan to take our A.C.T. VIP Investors Cycling Club on our annual European Cycling Trips.”

When people hear that Thailand has a “Rainy Season” or “Monsoon Season” they often think the worst and fear a holiday ruined by cold, depressing rain that seems to last forever. It’s not nearly as bad as it sounds because “Rainy Season” means it sometimes rains, and “Monsoon Season” means there is a tendency for monsoons to affect the weather in Southeast Asia. Most of our customers, and all our staff find the rain to be refreshing and cleansing on the rare occasions we get rained on. At our Home Office in Hua Hin, we get very little rain (the least in all of Thailand) and look forward to what we call “Happy Hour Showers” because it tends to rain between 4-6pm and usually for 30 minutes to an hour before clearing up for a cooler, and clean-aired evening to enjoy dinner outside. We are confident that you will find “Green Season” to be a much better description of Thailand between June and October, and the hotel prices are lower then too.
While we greatly value our humility, we also realize the importance of promoting our business strengths and sharing good information (such as reviews). We just recently received notice from Tripadvisor that we are a “Travelers’ Choice Awards Winner 2024”, and if you go to our TA Reviews page you will also see that we have been #1 of 72 Outdoor Activities here in Hua Hin since 2010 or before:
We sincerely appreciate our customer reviews and look forward to continuing the hard work and pleasurable bike riding with our wonderful customers to keep the reviews rolling in. If you have ridden with us before on any of the rides we operate and didn’t get the chance to leave a review, please feel free to leave one now via one or all of the review links here:
Dear God, Please Send Me A Sign…

We thought it might be fun each newsletter to share with you one of the “interesting” signs we see on our many tours throughout Thailand:

Koh Phangan (just a ferry ride away from Chumphon) is an incredibly beautiful island paradise, but for cyclists it can quickly go from Heaven (photo 1) to Hell (photo 2)
